Alfredo González started his career in the city of Rocha playing for Palermo FC as a striker. In 1989 he achieved the title of National Champion being the top scorer in the competition. Cause of the great performance he is transferred to the Club Nacional de Football, biggest team from Uruguay, at that time Champion of the Copa Libertadores de América and also of the Intercontinental Cup (1988) that positioned as the best club in the world. Alfredo debuted in the main team of Nacional in October of 1989 against Racing FC in the Gran Parque Central Stadium.

As head coach signed his first professional contract in 2002 at Club Colón FC in Montevideo, Uruguay. He worked as a coach in Uruguay, Ecuador, Oman, Syria, Indonesia, Malaysia and Jordan

After studying sports management, he was the Technical Director of teams in Uruguay, Indonesia, Malaysia and Jordan.
